Reimagine Health Through Design

The Department of Design is committed to advancing the role of design in addressing society's most complex challenges. Our work [Link to Case Studies] demonstrates that human-centered design is a powerful tool for producing innovative solutions to immediate challenges in health and healthcare while also imagining possible futures. Working side-by-side with collaborators whose backgrounds span healthcare, design, education, business, art, engineering, and other disciplines, our students and faculty explore complex health challenges to improve experiences, services, and systems that enable people and communities to live well. 

Established in 2020, the Design focused on Health Master's program laid a strong foundation for this work, cultivating an interdisciplinary community whose alumni, partnerships, projects, and ideas continue to contribute to the evolving field of design in health. Over six years, students worked across disciplines with healthcare organizations and community partners to address real-world health challenges through applied research and capstone projects. Today, graduates continue to advance this work as service designers, design researchers, clinicians, entrepreneurs, and professionals across healthcare and beyond.
